UNETIXS VASCULAR TO BREAK GROUND ON NEW HEADQUARTERS AT QUONSET

Leading vascular diagnostics company building 30,000 sq. ft. facility
Updated 05/11/07

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI March 13, 2007 – Unetixs Vascular, an international leader in instrumentation for diagnosing vascular disease, will break ground for a new 30,000 sq. ft. headquarters at Quonset Business Park in May. The facility will be built on a 3.6 acre parcel and house the company’s design, manufacturing, sales, educational, and research and development operations. The company will add as many as 10 new employees at the new location.

“Unetixs Vascular has grown significantly for ten consecutive years,” said Peter Moscovita, President and CEO. “Vascular diagnostics is a fast-growing medical discipline, and we are thrilled to expand our capabilities by building our new headquarters in our home state of Rhode Island.”

Founded in 1988, Unetixs is well known in the medical field for its leading-edge diagnostic technology, which conducts both ultrasound imaging and physiologic exams. The company’s systems are particularly helpful in diagnosing early-stage vascular disease, according to Moscovita.

“Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) affects more than 12 million people in the United States alone,” says Moscovita. “Nearly 75% of people with the disease either do not have any symptoms or mistake them for something else. Less than 5% of people in the United States are checked for PAD.”

A diagnostic exam by a physician using a Unetixs system can detect the presence of early-stage vascular disease, Moscovita points out. The exam is non-invasive and painless for patients. Health awareness advisors recommend that all people age 50 and older get an examination for PAD, and also urge people to do so at an even younger age. For surgeons treating patients with stents, Unetixs systems provide critical pre- and post-surgery blood flow data.

According to Moscovita, Unetixs has a long-standing commitment to education and training in the growing field of peripheral vascular diagnostics. The new Unetixs headquarters will include an education center to help health care professionals understand PAD and introduce them to diagnostic equipment. The company’s long-term goal is to establish a Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) Center. Currently, the extreme shortage of RVTs nationwide places unnecessary strain on existing vascular labs.

Among its numerous donations to leading medical schools across the country, Unetixs recently donated a $32,000 vascular testing instrument to the Community College of Rhode Island. It is the only physiologic testing company that donates equipment to medical schools, including the University of Miami, Stanford University, Bowman Gray Medical School, Nova Southeastern University, Grossmont College, and others.

Last fall, Unetixs received the prestigious Gold Award from the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography for its support of the Society’s Education Foundation. The company has received many other prestigious awards, including recognition from the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound.

The company plans to move into its new facility by the summer of 2008.
